Living Wage Movement
Multi-national corporations and the 1% enjoy obscene profits, while millions of hard-working Americans struggle with the basic necessities of life with a 40 hour full time job. Living Wage Movement aims to provide every worker with a wage sufficient enough to provide food, housing, medical care, and other clothing for a family of 4.
What started as a campaign in Baltimore in 1994, quickly spread to 100s of local counties and cities. A diverse coalition formed, comprising of unions, community activist organizations, and faith based groups for the common purpose of attaining living wages for millions of Americans.
“Other students in this POL 4900 seminar are researching other U.S. social movements. You can learn about their research here.
